Happy Thanksgiving
Remembering our history
It’s turkey time. With football on TV and endless food. Family, friends… today is Thanksgiving Day.
Could we be forgetting something important?
When Congress asked President Washington to declare America's first National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, his proclamation of Nov. 26, 1789, noted "it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor."
Right. God.
The same amnesia happens at Christmas, where Santa Claus and presents can eclipse the birth of Christ, and at Easter when chocolate eggs and a bunny can seem more important than the crucifixion and resurrection.
We don’t have to be religious to remember God. After all, where did we come from?
Let’s be grateful for this gift of life, let’s honor our history and our roots, let’s remember who we are, one in spirit, aspects of God.
And let’s live this day, all day, is awe of God, however we name and conceive of it/him/her. Opening our hearts, welcoming this divine flow that is always blessings us with life, we can truly awaken today, to who we are and why we are here: to celebrate creation with our full participation, in humility, reverence, and JOY!
Happy Thanksgiving.

So much to be thankful for and that far outshines and illuminates the dark shadows. Good to remember this. Thank you Will! This is an ever renewing precious, infinite moment.
That's good common sense, Will! Thank you for articulating it so clearly and reminding us that the Divine is not out there somewhere, it's here, within each of us, it's alive; WE are alive, and we can choose right now how we want to respond to this new precious moment, beyond all human made-up beliefs....after all, we ARE free.
