Oooooops
This may be the key to Big Change
History is littered with colossal goofs and rarely do the bad actors involved
1. Admit they goofed,
2. Make any sort of change so it doesn’t happen again.
2008, anyone? That financial crash will be dwarfed by the next (imminent) one because zero change was made to correct a corrupt economic system. Speaking of which, has anyone heard that we have an obscene and getting-worse-by-the-moment wealth inequity between the super rich and the woefully poor? How long have we heard that? What’s been done to change it?
Forever and nothing.
Madness, that’s what it is, to be consciously aware of a serious problem and deny it, to just kick the can down the road and pretend there’s nothing to worry about - which has become a theme song for humans in the era of climate change, economic skull duggery, skyrocketing suicide rates, etc.
But, of course, what really matters is what celebrities wear to award shows.
So, is there a cure? Absolutely and it’s called: “facing facts and being personal accountability.” This doesn’t start with CEO’s and politicians and bankers, it starts with me and with you. And this introduces my second OpenMind Fitness Circuit.
The first was The Everyday Circuit, a simple check in morning, noon, and night. I hope some of you are trying it. This one is called The Ooooops Circuit and it’s just as simple.
I just had an incident in my life where I had to admit that I goofed. My latest book is coming out and a hitch developed with an aspect of its publication. I pushed to resolve a problem in a way that didn’t exemplify consideration for the person I was dealing with. In going through this “Oooops” process, I gained a profound realization.
I was upset because what I wanted to have happen had become, for a few minutes, the most important thing in my life. The result I wanted was “God.” My insight: everything that shows up tests our faith. Can anything replace my faith in Universal Intelligence and overwhelm that primary relationship? This incident did, and I apologized. Now, I’m gaining this insight, which will steady my state when the next seduction appears. For me, this is self-care for mental health, keeping my mind operating the way it’s supposed to, an instrument for the expression of Universal Intelligence.
These circuits are the beginning of an idea whose time has come: Mental Fitness Gyms. You’re pioneering a billion dollar industry that, more importantly, can can make preventative mental health care an everyday thing, just like physical fitness has been for decades. Our bodies are important… so are our minds!
Let’s take care of them with simple exercises like these. More to come…
