The fine art of oil painting has always been Jett Green's true love, as she grew her career within the creative engine of the movie making industry. Starting in 1984, Jett created rich, luminescent, and endlessly detailed paintings for film productions at Lucasfilm's Industrial, Light and Magic where she learned how to paint on glass along side the film industry's greatest special effects masters. Her early credits include The Never Ending Story, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Star Trek. Her long career as a Matte painter for both special effects and animation is matched by few.
Today, Jett’s love for the fine art of oil painting continues to grow with her deep connections to the ocean and natures beauty in her new home on Maui where we conducted this interview on my deck, midst a chorus of song birds and the rumble of an occasional passing truck.
“I feel honored to be in relationship with the spirit of Mother Maui here on this beautiful island. This challenges me with the task of learning about myself and the beauty surrounding me, dropping in deeper, and letting go of my past. I then receive Her gift of my souls connection to this paradise.
“My paintings are now the portraits of the aina, holding and surrounding me, deepening and relaxing me. I love painting realistically, portraits of these timeless souls of land ocean and the heart felt people of Maui.”
